She 1996- 1997年担任TESOL的总裁. 丹尼斯是一名语言教育家，她的研究兴趣是 centre around computer-assisted language learning; cross-cultural literacy; use of L1 in the second language classroom; intersection of language, society and technology; settlement of adult immigrants; language education policy; and leadership in language education.
